About Brad Seavers

Brad Seavers is a former motorcycle racer turned auto racer, with over 34 years experience of hauling freight, and a powerful story of perseverance, recovery, and personal transformation. He shares his journey in hopes that it encourages others to find the strength and courage to pursue a better path.

Brad’s earliest memories, beginning around the age of three or four, are marked by fear. Growing up in a home impacted by alcoholism, he witnessed frequent conflict and his father’s struggles with anger and addiction—experiences that became a constant throughout his childhood.

By the age of twelve, living in fear had become his normal.

As he grew older, Brad began to recognize that his home life was not reflective of what he saw in others. While peers enjoyed school activities, family events, and supportive relationships, his own experiences were often overshadowed by instability. Though there were moments of happiness, they were often interrupted by turmoil. Despite it all, he believes his father had good intentions but was battling a disease that went unaddressed.

At sixteen, Brad began coping with his circumstances through drugs and alcohol. What started as an escape quickly became a daily pattern. The substances masked his fear and replaced it with anger—a state that, at the time, felt more manageable.

Between the ages of eighteen and twenty, Brad made several attempts to change direction but struggled to find stability. A short-lived opportunity in the Navy ended early, and his anger continued to manifest in destructive ways. Each setback deepened his sense of isolation and uncertainty about the future.

Everything changed on March 11, 1991. After coming home intoxicated and angry, Brad had a pivotal conversation with his mother. Through her tears, she expressed not disappointment, but heartbreak—both for what he had endured growing up and for the path he was now on. Her words struck deeply: she feared he was becoming what he had always feared most.

That moment became the turning point in Brad’s life. Determined to take responsibility for his future and no longer allow his mother to carry that burden, he made the decision to enter drug and alcohol rehabilitation. It was there that he found the tools and support system that would lay the foundation for lasting change.

In early sobriety, Brad continued to carry anger toward his father. However, as time passed, he began to better understand the nature of addiction. He came to see that his father, too, had been shaped by a similar environment and was living with the same disease. This realization led to a profound shift—from anger to compassion.

Through his journey, Brad learned that sobriety is not about perfection, but about growth, accountability, and becoming the person he is meant to be. Today, he lives with purpose and continues to share his story to inspire others who may be struggling with addiction or difficult circumstances.

Brad’s message is simple but powerful: there is always hope. No matter how far someone has fallen, there is a path forward. With courage, honesty, and support, a better life is within reach.
